Happy Holidays!

Just like every year, I made my Christmas cards myself. This year I used linocut technique, cut myself twice (once badly), because the linoleum wasn't soft enough, applied some color on my stamps and pressed them. Yay! E. said he hoped I would make a mess and I did.

Making reeeaaalllyyy good and fancy *perfect* cards is NOT the point. I'm not good at crafts, I just enjoy them very very much. From time to time. :) I think the only thing important here is the love you put in your work. :)

Do you make your Christmas cards or not? Do they look better than mine? Probably yes. :) Do you send your family photos on Christmas? In Slovenia we don't do that. We're all so close together this isn't necessary. :)

So ... I wish you all some very nice Christmas holidays and a very very happy New year. :)

Good Music

Good morning, everyone,

I'm still recovering from my hell of a exam yesterday. It was horrible.
I just wanted to suggest some hell of a good singer to you. It's a good recovery music. Want some good music? I just can't get enough of this song. Adele so rocks.

Enjoy :)

Motivation

I just HAD to post this video. It's the last day before the exam tomorrow. I understand it's midterm / finals week in US too?

Anyway, yesterday I just wanted to kill myself. Couldn't sleep, couldn't study ... could eat, thought ... :P

I decided I HAVE to study hard today so I found myself a little motivation video on YouTube. It's funny, you should see it. :)

I CAN DO IT! :))

Wish me luck ;)

Dear Santa!

So, I've been a good girl. I've done OK at school, I have a job, I like to help others, especially my colleagues, who always need my notes, when it comes to exam period. Here's what I want:

1) A car. Not necessarily a new one, I'm OK with a smaller one, like 2009 Opel Corsa or Ford Fiesta, as long as it has a tank that never runs out of gas and winter tyres I'm fine with it.

2) A good sense for fashion. I like it but don't know exactly how to do it. Some clothing ideas and longer legs would be nice, too. Extra 10 cm please.

3) A new cell phone. White, with a good camera, GPS and free internet. And someone on the other side who'll always have time to chat.

4) Good grades at school. I really want and need this, because good grades = higher grant, see? Thanks.

5) I REAAAAAALY need some good ideas for my thesis. One for English and one for Slovene language. Because I really have no idea.

6) I have an addition to number 2: I'd like to be able to put make up on my face, could you bring me the ability to do that, please? I usually fail miserably ...

...

bo deerImage by .BrainFood via Flickr
Well, actually, I don't really need all of those. It would be lovely to have them, but you know ... I'm a realistic person. I mean, make up? Impossible.

What I would really like to have is some good ideas for Christmas presents for my family, my boyfriends and my friends, can you do that? And could you please deliver them early, a few days before Christmas?

Thanks.
I'll leave you some milk and cookies. ;)

First snow

It is nice to look outside the windows now that I'm at home. The snow covered the mountain tops around our valley. Lovely, huh?

Not yesterday. Yesterday I hated snow. Road workers obviously weren't ready for all that snow. I've also heard they are saving money so they simply didn't plow the snow from the roads. I mean, what?? Let me just show you what my view was like aaaaaalll yesterday afternoon.

Like That:
Me and my colleague spent 7 hours in the car, trying to get home. 7 hours for 220 kilometers! (that's 137 miles). I almost lost it.

Snow plow drivers, move your lazy asses and clean the roads, because I have to go back to campus tomorrow!

Annoying FB statuses

You probably know what I mean, right?

*If you love someone copy this in your status.
* If you have the best mom / dad / sister / brother in the world, copy this in your status.
* If you hate school copy this in your status.* Like my status and I'll add you as my sister.

And so on and on and on ...

But there are two of them that I like! The first one was when people started to make fun of these statuses:

*If you were ever eaten by a dragon or you know someone that was, copy this in your status in order to show your support. There's nothing to be ashamed about!* :D

Today there is a whole different thing going on over there. It started a few days ago:

*Replace your profile picture with a picture of your favourite cartoon character. Let's look at cartoons for a week, not people's faces.*

Now that's fun! I LOVE cartoons! As you can see my character is DeeDee. And guess what? My brother chose Dexter and our mum chose Dexter's mum, of course.

Do you want to see what my Facebook photos look like right now? :)

It's pure FUN! :)

Krogci, zvezdice in srčki? Naaaah.

Povodni konj, veverička in lisica? WAAAAAY cooler. :)

Darilce in možek s kapo, yaaay! :)

Komaj čakam piškote X-mas edition. :)

Specializacija? Sladko.

No, pa začnimo.

Piškotki so ponavadi fajn izbira, ker so majhni, ni jih treba basat v usta, ne rabiš krožnikov in vilic, itd itd ... Pa še super so poleg kave / čaja. :)

Bodite pridni, pa dobite še kaj. ;)

United States of America

Do you know what this is?

Yeah, it's the map of the USA and as you can see it is almost empty. We had to write down the names of the sates ourselves ... Can you guess how many of them I got right?? Well ... I got Texas, California and Florida. And I had an idea about where Kentucky, Ohio and Idaho were, but I couldn't really put them down on the map. I have a friend from Idaho and I couldn't spot her state, how embarrassing is that? :)

We did this in American literature class. We were trying to learn about where all those writers came from. The first one was O. Henry and his story "The Gift of the Magi". Click HERE and read it, it's a very nice short story. :)

Anyway, don't be mad at me, I found a nice map online and I'm going to fix my map, I promise. :P

Christening

Do you like babies posts? I usually don't, but here's one. :)

I said I "adopted" my boyfriend's nephew, because my brother is 19 and my sister is 11 so I can't expect any nephews or nieces any time soon. His name is Jani and he is (of course) the cutest little baby ever. (at least until I'll have one) :)

This weekend I had the honour to become his godmother. He was baptised on a sunny day in the church in a beautiful village on the top of the hill, overlooking the whole valley. And I have to say he had the cutest white baby tuxedo.

Anyway, all I wanted to post today is a baby picture!
Me and my new godson:

His relatives said we're all related now, no matter what happens between me and my boyfriend. Beware! :)

Anorexia? No, thanks.

It's October and I'm back to school. When I'm not attending classes, lectures and seminars and when I'm not arranging a ton of new study materials I just got, I usually don't have anything to do. So you can imagine I spend a lot of time in front of my laptop.

One of the things I like to do is watching some interesting shows and one of those I find interesting is America's next top model. I don't really like all those chick-fights and stuff, I like photoshooting ideas, stylings ... Surprisingly I like fashion, although you'd never guess that if you met me. I'm a jeans + T-shirt person.Anyway, I was watching 1st part of the cycle 15 and something surprised me in a positive way. There was a beautiful girl, Anamaria, who did quite well in photoshoots:

Tyra once mentioned that she isn't happy with her skinny body. Eat a sandwich, girl! But after listening to Anamaria's arguments how skinny she has to be to become a supermodel and how well she plans her diet, Tyra became seriously concerned.

Anamaria was the first one eliminated from the show, because the judges didn't want to send the message that skinny is good to young girls all over the world. "Too skinny isn't good, you have to pack your belongings and leave!"

I mean, look at her ...
Compared to the image that fashion industry shows as perfect I find this move as a very good step towards changing the ideal of perfect skinny tall girls back to normal.

After all, Tyra did that twice before:

Firstly, when she chose Whitney Thompson as the winner of cycle 10. Whitney was the first plus-size America's next top model!

And secondly, cycle 13 was all about petite models. Only 5"7' And Under allowed!

Support, Tyra! :)

When the actor doesn't fit into the role

Do you know that feeling, when you're watching a movie and it seems a bit weird, but you can't really figure out why? It happened to me yesterday, when I was watching Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time. Let me explain.

There was this guy, Tus, the king's son and a great, brave warrior. That's him in the middle:

But he seemed a bit weird to me. And why? Somewhere in the middle of the movie I realized that the same actor, Richard Coyle, was starring as Jeff in Coupling. And Jeff was a complete weirdo! It was hard to imagine him as a warrior, I tell you.

Do you want to know why? Click HERE and take a look at this video. And by the way, I totally recommend Coupling, it's the funniest and one of my favourite series.

Has it ever happened to you? Do you remember certain actors from some certain movie / series and you don't really see him / her as someone else? :)

just in case

I have already posted this prayer on FB, but to be sure:

DEAR STUDY GODS!
Please make morphology, phraseology and lexicology easier for me.
Make it go into my brain and stay there.
At least for a week.

Thank you.

P.S.: Dear procrastinators' patrons. Please help us stay away from procrastinating.

Please ... ?

Thank you again.

Home made bread

Yaaay! I baked my first loaf of bread ever! :) It always seemed so impossible when my brother was doing it (sorry, bro :D ) so I didn't even want to try, but E. convinced me to do it after all. So I found a very simple recipe yesterday, bought the ingredients (and a new plastic bowl, that's a very important factor!) and gave it a try. And guess what! It turned out great!

This is what it looked like before:

look, it's starting to rise!

And here it is: my very first loaf of bread. :)
I call it a succes. And now I'm going to have dinner. Bon apetit. :)

Study break

While I'm dying of a disease called "study depression" I said I HAVE to do something to cheer me up, to entertain me. And since my blog is dying of collateral damage of my study depression, I said I should do it here! So here you go, my favorite trio of HOT GUYS!

Please keep in mind my all time personal favourite is Johnny Depp, but this trio is from my favorite show: Grey's Anatomy. Feast your eyes, girls ... :P

Patrick Dempsey a.k.a. dr. Shepherd a.k.a. McDreamy:

Eric Dane a.k.a. dr. Sloan a.k.a. McSteamy:

Justin Chambers a.k.a. dr. Alex Karev
How do you like it? :)

Must love dogs.

Yeah, you certainly have to love them. Except when they're causing problems.

Our dog is very cute and funny and everything.

Like that, see? But today she made us all worry about her. We took a walk, a short swim in the river (just her, not me) and then came back home. I left her on the balcony because she was all wet and I went doing my stuff.

Suddenly I heard her coughing and making some weird noises. I let her out and she couldn't stop sneezing, she kept rubbing her nose and after a few minutes like that we were ready to take her to the vet.

My boyfriend then noticed she had something inside her nose. He got tweezers and guess what he pulled out - a 20 cm long grass leaf! Can you imagine having that in YOUR nose?

Pets are a lot of fun, but sometimes a lot of worries, too. :) But it's all because we love them. :P

A date

I have a date on Friday!

Today I got an SMS from this cute guy. He asked me out to some concert. He's really cool and I relly like the band that's playing so of course I said yes. I have a boyfriend, We've been together for more than 2 years, but that's no problem. He's the cool guy who asked me out anyway. :)

The whole thing reminded me of our early teens, when we did all the "courtship" through texting, MSN, even friends ... :) It was crazy when the phone beeped. Is it him? What if it's him? And the heart started beating hard, hands were shaky and so on and on.

And if it was him, the problem was even bigger. What to write back? I remember myself writing one single SMS for more than an hour! It was all about strategy. :)

I can't even imagine how people did all of that before the "cell phone era". :))

Apricot cake!

Hello hello!

I am happy to share the news: I got a 9 on Slovene literature III. We have grades from 1 to 10 so 9 is pretty good. :) I rewarded myself with some shopping, visited my grandma, bought her a late B-day present, went to my uncle's first book presentation and then collapsed into the bed in the evening. Regarding the fact I couldn't sleep at all the night before the exam that's quite
reasonable.

I should have started studying for my next exam the following day but I took another day for relaxation and regeneration. And what did I do?

My boyfriend's parents are a perfect housewife + DIY king. She brought me some apricots from their orchard and some apricot jam she made the previous day.

... they aren't perfect but at least they are organic! By the way, do you try to buy organic food? Do you grow your own vegetables?

And this jam - perfect! :) Do you make things like that at home? I'm not very good at it. I decided to use the apricots and the jam for a nice summer-ish fruit cake. I mixed the apricots with some whipped and some sour cream, added some sugar and lemon juice, spread the jam over the sponge cake and put everything together.

I should have taken a photo earlier, this is all that's left. :)

... I guess it was tasty ... :)

A little bit of my study materials ...

Something sweet ... (sour cherry pie)

A little cactus ...

A bunch of roses my mother in law brought me ...

And of course our little foxterrier! She loves the new rug! :)
